Manufacturing company specializing in alternative fuels technology announces expansion to Plant City and plans to create more than 45 jobs

TAMPA, Fla. – (Sept. 20, 2018) – Alternative fuels technology firm MLMC Florida (“MLMC”) today announced that it will open a new facility in Plant City. The company will add 45 new jobs and invest more than $10 million in the project. The jobs will fulfill various functions including production, maintenance, sales, logistics, control room operation and administration.

“Every new job is an opportunity for Florida families,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “I’m proud to announce more job growth in Plant City and I will never stop fighting to make sure that Florida continues to outpace the nation for job creation. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created nearly 1.6 million jobs and our unemployment rate is the lowest since April 2007.”

“As we were planning our market entry, we were targeting the Midwest and Southeast, but most importantly, we were looking for a community that was business friendly and had the workforce we needed to succeed,” said Jim LaDue, Chief Operating Officer at MLMC Florida. “Hillsborough County and Plant City stood out to us, and we’re confident we made the right decision.”

MLMC Florida acquires and processes pre-consumer waste materials, such as non-recyclable, coated paper and cardboard, Styrofoam, plastic films, wood materials and other process and packaging materials to manufacture a clean, energy dense fuel product called Enviro-Fuelcubes® (EFCs). The first fuel of its kind to receive a USEPA non-waste designation, EFCs are engineered to either augment or replace traditional fossil fuels like coal in energy intensive industries, offering a more cost-effective, cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuel sources. In addition, MLMC has developed proprietary and patented fuel injection technology that is capable of independently delivering EFCs into high efficiency combustion units requiring suspension burn which is common in utility power generation. This technology is also used to independently deliver EFCs into rotary kilns which are used to manufacture cement and lime.

Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, said, “MLMC Florida’s decision to open a new manufacturing facility in our state proves that Florida’s commitment to developing a competitive business environment and a talented workforce, specifically for manufacturers, is working.  We are proud to have companies like MLMC Florida move to our state and create jobs for hardworking Florida families.”

“Manufacturing has a long history in Hillsborough County and continues to be an area of focus for us,” said Sandra Murman, Chair of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. “We’re grateful to MLMC Florida for choosing Hillsborough County for their expansion, and the high-wage jobs they’ll bring to our local residents.”

Headquartered in Parker, Colo., MLMC will open its new manufacturing facility at 2067 South County Line Rd. in Plant City. The approximately 103,000 square-foot facility will receive more than 150,000 tons per year of manufacturing process and packaging waste materials from local businesses that would have otherwise been delivered to landfills or incinerators. Instead, these materials will be manufactured and delivered to energy intensive customers.

The project was made possible through strong partnerships between Enterprise Florida, the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, Plant City Economic Development Corporation, City of Plant City, Hillsborough County, Tampa Electric, and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

“Today’s announcement proves that Florida is the best location for clean technology businesses,” said Joe York, Vice-Chairman of Enterprise Florida’s Board of Directors. “EFI is excited to welcome MLMC to Florida and we look forward to their success.”

“Plant City is thrilled to have Materials Lifecycle Management Company in our community,” said Rick A. Lott, Mayor of Plant City. “Advanced manufacturing is what we’re all about and MLMC’s alternative fuel product is helping us become less dependent on fossil fuels. This is a great project all around.”

The Tampa region boasts the second largest base of manufacturing employment in Florida with more than 2,800 manufacturing firms employing more than 63,000 people. Hillsborough County’s manufacturing sector produces a wide variety of goods including food and beverages, batteries, medical devices, boats and boating machinery, computer and electronic products, military and aerospace specifications and more.

“Today’s modern manufacturing companies are developing technology that makes an impact worldwide, and MLMC Florida is no exception,” said Alan F. List, MD, chairman of the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation and president and CEO of Moffitt Cancer Center. “We’re proud to include such an innovative and environmentally-friendly company like MLMC Florida to our local manufacturing industry, and we’re committed to helping them succeed here.”

MLMC Florida joins a growing list of manufacturing companies that have announced plans to open operations in Hillsborough County recently, including Liftup, Resistacap Energy Products, and Advanced Airfoil Components, a joint venture of Siemens and Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation.

“This is a big win for our community. The Plant City EDC would like to thank Materials Lifecycle Management Company for creating jobs and investing in Plant City,” said Keith C. Smith, Chairman of the Plant City Economic Development Corporation. “We also thank our many partners that helped make it happen.”

About MLMC Florida
Since inception, MLMC has focused on the development of economical, environmentally-friendly technology and equipment that seeks to extend the lifecycle of the pre-consumer, non-hazardous materials currently being generated in commercial business operations. To that end, MLMC has perfected and patented proprietary technology to turn those same materials into a clean, cost-effective alternative fuel engineered to either augment or completely replace traditional fossil fuels used in energy intensive industrial processes such as power plant operations and cement manufacturing, among others. In 2011, the United States Environmental Protection Agency “USEPA” designated our Enviro-Fuelcubes® a “Legitimate” fuel approved for use in Energy Intensive Industrial Processes as an alternative commodity fuel. Nineteen state regulatory offices have also recognized the benefits of MLMC’s alternative fuel and manufacturing operations.
