Derek Apanovitch has been President of Ultimate Medical Academy since July 2015 where he is responsible for leading the faculty and staff of the Tampa-based nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. The first employee of the online campus, he joined UMA in 2008. Apanovitch previously served as an Executive Director of Kaplan, Inc., a diversified education provider. Earlier, he was an attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell, and a judicial clerk with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. He holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, a J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, and a M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
