EDC welcomes Nealy Wheat as controller

CONTROLLER[/caption]   On June 1, the EDC will welcome Nealy Wheat as its new controller. Wheat brings more than 15 years of financial, human resources management and administrative experience with nonprofit organizations and member associations to the EDC. In her new role, Wheat will oversee all financial, accounting and some human resources activities with responsibilities for budget management, financial analysis, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting.   Most recently, Wheat served as chief financial officer at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce where she led the overall business and financial strategy of the organization, resulting in a significant increase in profitability and the creation of six new staff positions. Prior to the Chamber, Wheat was director of operations at the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation in Atlanta.   In 2013, Wheat was honored as a CFO of the Year finalist by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. She is also active in the local community, serving as a mentor for Emerging Leaders of Tampa Bay, a member of Junior League of Tampa, and an alumna of Leadership Tampa. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Kennesaw State University.
