Gov. Scott: Tampa Area Ranks Second in State Job Creation

    TAMPA, Fla. — Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Tampa area added 28,400 new private-sector jobs in the last year, continuing to create the second-highest number of jobs among all Florida metro areas. The Tampa area also continues to rank first in the state in demand for high-skill, high-wage STEM occupations with 14,839 openings in November. Latest economic indicators signal strong ending to 2017

    The Tampa metro area’s economy has been strong all year, and the latest economic indicators suggest that our momentum isn’t abating. The unemployment rate in September 2017 for our local labor force of 1.5 million was 3.3 percent, 1.4 percent less than the same time last year.   Individual employment sectors are seeing major growth in comparison to September 2016 as well.
