We have so much to be thankful for this holiday season

2018 has been another memorable year for the Tampa Hillsborough EDC and our community. We achieved our long-held goal of recruiting our first Fortune 500 headquarters, The Mosaic Company. We weathered attacks from the legislature that sought to undermine economic development and tourism. And we celebrated the University of South Florida’s ascent to well-deserved preeminence. In November, Hillsborough County residents voted to increase the sales tax rate to invest in transportation solutions and our schools. As I’ve said since my arrival, it’s time for Tampa and Hillsborough County to start realizing its potential.  These recent developments puts us on a trajectory to do just that!

The EDC has received incredible support from our Investors, partners and elected leaders. Without their time, treasure and excellent counsel, we could not fulfill our mission – and my team and I are deeply grateful to them. We’ve also been fortunate to work with local and national media that have listened to our region’s growth stories and covered them accurately and with interest. Their coverage is helping us to get the word out about the opportunities that Tampa and Hillsborough County offer for growing businesses and talented people looking for a place where they can make their mark.

Finally, I want to thank the companies that have chosen to relocate to or expand in Hillsborough County this year. These businesses have expressed confidence in our workforce and are betting their futures on our region’s rise.

Thank you again for your support of the EDC. I wish you all a peaceful and happy holiday season, and hope that all of your dreams come true in the new year.
