MyMacDill Rallies Community to Support, Celebrate Our Air Force Base

Tampa’s MacDill Air Force Base, home of U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year. In recognition of that major milestone, the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance created and launched MyMacDill. The community pride campaign is capturing and sharing via social media thousands of MacDill-related stories, videos, photos and tributes from residents across Tampa Bay.
 
The Tampa Hillsborough EDC is proud to support MyMacDill, which acknowledges and thanks the service men and women from all branches of the armed forces serving at MacDill Air Force base. As Enterprise Florida’s designated partner, the Tampa Hillsborough EDC applied for a Defense Reinvestment grant and helped secure the funding for MyMacDill as well as other important initiatives in support of the base for the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations.
 
MyMacDill is seeking tributes from residents, active duty, veterans, contractors, business leaders and anyone else who has a story to share about their connection with or admiration for MacDill Air Force base. Rick Homans, the EDC’s President and CEO, proudly shared his MacDill story in a video posted on the site. In his tribute, Rick talks about the veteran work force coming out of MacDill as our region’s ‘secret weapon’ in the war for great talent and his experience as an Honorary Commander as one of the most enriching and humbling of his time here in Tampa Bay.
