Tampa Hillsborough EDC Hires International Business Expert

TAMPA, Fla. / The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation enters its new fiscal year with an increased focus on international business development, creating a division dedicated to export promotion and the expansion of foreign direct investment opportunities. Veteran trade specialist, Lorrie Belovich, has been hired to oversee the program beginning October 29.
 
“Lorrie is regarded regionally, and statewide, as a consummate professional with excellent connections throughout the local business community,” said Rick Homans, President and CEO of the Tampa Hillsborough EDC.  “Most importantly, she has a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in the international business process.”
 
In the role, Belovich will lead all Tampa Hillsborough EDC international initiatives, including management of scheduled trade missions to Colombia, Germany, Switzerland and Brazil; the annual International Town Hall event; and regional trade efforts with key partners like the Tampa Port Authority, Tampa International Airport, Tampa Bay Partnership and Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.  She will also serve as the staff liaison to the Tampa Hillsborough EDC International Trade and FDI Task Force.
 
Belovich has 15 years of experience in international trade and business development, most recently serving as the Tampa Bay Regional Manager for International Trade Development with Enterprise Florida, where she assisted Florida companies in finding new international markets and export opportunities.  Prior to joining the Enterprise Florida team in 2005, she worked in the Washington, DC area for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Institute for American Trade Promotion, Global Perspectives and North American Management Co.  Belovich is a graduate of the Monterey Defense Language Institute-Russian Studies, a former Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army and a recipient of the Joint Services Commendation Medal.
