Super Bowl XXXVII champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 2004 Stanley Cup winners Tampa Bay Lightning play for sell-out crowds at Raymond James Stadium and Amalie Arena, respectively. Across the Bay at Tropicana Field, the Tampa Bay Rays are working toward their first World Series championship, but have come pretty close. NASL champs Tampa Bay Rowdies bring the exciting game of soccer to the area. And every spring, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg rolls into downtown, shutting down the streets for the IndyCar series.
With nearly 100 golf courses, we have the perfect weather and enough courses to hit the links year round. Local leader Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club hosts the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship every spring, bringing the biggest names in golf to our very own backyard.
We are also the spring training hosts for several MLB teams, including the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Tampa Bay’s natural beauty shines through the area’s state and local parks, nature trails, and beaches. Alafia State Park offers 17 miles of biking trails and 20 miles of hiking and equestrian trails, while at the Hillsborough River State Park, visitors can explore nature while canoeing or kayaking down the river. The Upper Tampa Bay Trail is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, with trails for hiking, biking, walking, and horseback riding as well as fishing and picnic areas.
Local parks throughout Tampa Bay play host to a variety of events and festivals while also remaining great places for us to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Located on the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, Curtis Hixon Park’s unique urban design has a dog run, two interactive fountains, and a grassy area designed to accommodate a wide range of programming and events, including Gasparilla Festival of the Arts and Gasparilla Music Festival.
Our beautiful Florida beaches tend to be what people think of most when talking about the area. And rightfully so.
According to a TripAdvisor survey, three local beaches were ranked in the Top 25 Beaches in the World, with two earning the top two spots. Dr. Beach has also named multiple beaches in the region to his annual lists of top beaches in the country. In addition to white sand, clear, blue water, and sunshine, you can find us on the beach, swimming, boating, jetskiing, fishing, paddleboarding, and kiteboarding, in addition to a wide array of other watersports and activities.
