Report names Tampa one of 13 high-growth hubs

Tampa was among thirteen cities in the nation labeled as a high-growth hub, according to McKinsey Global Institute’s July report, “The future of work in America.”

Industries within high tech, media, healthcare, real estate, and finance make up a large share the local economies of high-growth hubs. These cities generally have higher net migration and a younger, more educated workforce than the rest of the country.

The report also states that high-growth hubs recently became hotbeds of innovation, experiencing high employment and GDP growth. One caveat: In many of these cities, rapid growth is straining transportation systems.
